Similar to its companion tool, the Assembly Design Assistant, the
Bare Board Design Assistant helps guide you during the design stage
of a printed circuit board by showing you the impact of design elements
on total board cost.
By constructing various "what if" scenarios, board designers
can drive cost factors as well as design factors at the onset of a
new product design, before investing in significant layout time or
prototype samples. For example, a designer can:
- evaluate
alternative board dimensions to determine the best panel utilization
- compare the
cost of a 6-layer board to that of an 8-layer board
- determine
the impact of pad size on annular ring.
The Bare Board
Design Assistant has been developed by dsi and is exclusive to our
company. This aid was developed to create a unique environment for
board designers to "play" with their design options and
receive virtually instant feedback.
