Similar to its companion tool, the Bare Board Design Assistant, the Assembly Design
Assistant lets you construct "what if" scenarios by varying design parameters
and comparing relative cost from one assembly to the next. You can alter one or
more variables of the assembly process operation, change component types, and
/ or alter a package style and size to see the impact on the cost of the assembly.
Unlike any other tools available, this user friendly-tool lets designers compare
cost differences between particular assembly operations. For example, you can:
- compare the cost of assembling
components on both sides of the board to assembling on only one side
- examine considerations
for the placement of BGAs
- compare the use of SMT
components to through-hole components
- experiment with the physical
size of the assembly.
The Assembly Design Assistant
Tool has been developed by dsi and is exclusive to our company. This aid was
developed to create a unique environment for board designers to "play"
with their design options and receive virtually instant feedback.
