Certification: TL 9000

Designed specifically for the telecommunications industry, the TL 9000 standard establishes a common set of quality system requirements for the design, development, production, and delivery of telecommunication products such as hardware, software, or services.


TL 9000 is based on existing industry standards, including ISO 9002 and QS-9000, with additional requirements such as cost and performance-based metrics that measure customer satisfaction and quality performance. Examples of these metrics include on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, yield/scrap, returns, and productivity/efficiency.

These measurements provide performance information and help identify improvement opportunities. Some of the benefits of implementing TL 9000 are:

  • A standardized quality system to effectively and efficiently protect the integrity of telecommunications products.

  • An enhanced customer-supplier relationship.

  • Standardized cost and performance-based metrics.

dsi has held ISO 9002 certification since 1994 and QS-9000 since 1997, but Management continues to seek ways to enhance our competitive edge. Our commitment to customer satisfaction, quality, and continuous efforts for improvement paved the way for an easy migration path to TL 9000. In February 2001, dsi was granted the TL 9000 certification.
