The
Labor Estimating Group is responsible for carefully reviewing customer supplied
information regarding the assembly, including:
Based on the customer's specifications, the Labor Estimator determines the best routing through production, and recommends specific equipment, personnel, tools, and fixtures. These routings and specifications are reviewed as necessary with Process Engineers, Product Engineers, Component Engineers and Project Managers to verify that the customer's requirements and expectations will be met. The quantities and specifications are then entered into the dsi labor costing system to determine the time needed for each of the steps needed for production. These time estimates are used to drive the scheduling system. The times are multiplied by internal hourly rates for the various production work centers to calculate a labor cost for the assembly. Once the order is in process, the actual production times are monitored and recorded to verify the accuracy of the estimate and to watch for potential processing problems. |
