The PCD Chemical Engineering team supports production and process development through a broad scope of physical, chemical and spectrographic analysis. dsi 's chemistry laboratory is fully equipped with spectrometry capabilities including UV / visible, atomic absorption, X-ray fluorescence and ion chromatography. Automated cross-section grinding equipment and video-imaging microscopes inspect, analyze and measure hole and plating quality, as well as overall board processing performance.
A staff of chemical engineers maintains the chemistries on all the wet processing baths for electroless plating, pattern plating and the special finishes plating line (ENIG, immersion silver and tin). Scheduled checking and addition of chemicals play an important role in process control.
The PCD Process Engineering team acts as a gatekeeper for each process to assist manufacturing with optimizing day-to-day processes as well as developing and validating new processes. This team continually evaluates the latest manufacturing processes to meet our customers' demanding requirements. Behind the scenes, PCD Process Engineering maintains our UL qualification and administrates environmental and OSHA safety compliance.
PCD Process Engineering and Customer Support Engineering work together to match every circuit board with its unique requirements to the various processes used by dsi. This careful attention starts with the customer's gerber files and may result in a meeting of a cross-functional Technical Review Board to address challenging or new requirements.
