The
Rapid Prototype Division (RPT) was conceived as a tool for companies
concerned with reducing time to market. dsi felt
that the convention of using prototype suppliers during the
engineering phase and then starting over with production suppliers
was flawed. Production suppliers do not deal well with low volume
runs that are necessary to validate the design, get agency approvals,
or provide first article submissions to the end customer. Prototype
suppliers struggle with consistency and cannot supply production
processes or audited quality systems. |
|
| dsi's RPT concept recognized
that the time-to-market could be reduced if the design was validated using
production processes and production quality combined with Rapid-Turn. The
dsi model has all manufacturing operations under one roof with a common
manufacturing network and certified to all quality systems. The efficiencies
of this model allow dsi to produce printed circuit boards and assemblies
faster than any known competitor. |

Innovation has long
been the hallmark of dsi. Most of our divisions do not look like their industry
competitors. Our process lines are custom designed, our systems are networked
and linked, and creativity is encouraged. Today, dsi's RPT division turns
bare boards in as little as 24 hours and assembled boards in as little as
2-3 business days. All RPT orders are made to production quality standards
(including ISO/TS 16949:2002, ISO-9000, TL 9000, FDA, and automotive underhood), and
are run on the same lines as production product.
